Slippin' Back into REALITY

Spring Break mode has ALMOST offically worn off. I don't know if that's a good thing or a bad thing. I would love to still be able to relax, not have to worry about school work, but I knew that wouldn't last forever - unfortunately. On the flip side though - I've been freakishly productive the first two days back. I know - RIDICULOUS!! It's unbelievable - I thought I'd have no motivation whatsoever in jumping back into school-mode, but clearly that wasn't the case. I just hope that lasts throughout the week because I still have a lot to get done.

Tonight I started reading the book "Heaven is for Real." Anyone read it? I can already tell it's going to be good - it'll be a quick read for sure. Hopefully, I can get it all read this week.

GROSS!!! I can't stand this 'welcome back to school' weather. It's been rainy and cold here which makes it hard to get out of the apartment and go to class. BUT...this weekend it's supposed to be gorgeous!!! I can't wait - I might hit up the baseball game Saturday afternoon :) Nothing I love more than baseball season!!haha

Okay wow, this post is so choppy and random, but nothing too much to post about these first few days back. Hope everyone's having a great start to your week!! :)

OH MY GOSH!!!!!

Ahhhhhh I can't believe my Hokies just pulled off that win tonight!! If anyone watched it, you have to agree with me the last 5 seconds of the game were ridiculous!! LOVED it!! (even though the rest of the game was awful) Oh and by the way I'm now even more in love with Eric Green!haha!! Bring on the NCAA Tournament.
..see ya NIT :)
I'm sad I couldn't be there in person tonight, but I was there cheerin' 'em on last night with my mom! Here are some pics from the first round!!

GO HOKIES!!! <3

pregame huddle :)

BUT!!!! on a much more important note...tonight my heart goes out to the people of Japan. I just found out about the earthquake this afternoon & it's seriously unbelievable the coverage on the news. It makes me so sad. All we can do is pray for the country and its people. I'm hoping to hear of some relief effort I can donate things to - that's the least I can do. Please pray!! <3

AWESOME birthday weekend would be an understatement!

Is this seriously real life??
I have had THE best birthday weekend someone could ask for! I definitely will have tons of memories to look back on from this weekend and be reminded that I have the most amazing family & friends in the world. They are all what made this weekend so incredible.

Yesterday, I spent the day with my parents & my mom made a delicious birthday dinner for us and my aunt. Then we got to enjoy some yummy ice cream cake for dessert!! :)

AFter dinner, I got ready and then headed out with Jenn, Jess, Katie, and Lyndsey. We went to El Toreo for drinks before heading downtown and met up with their friend Brad too. We all had a fun time - I even got whipped cream in my face at El Toreo for being the birthday girl. I got a little mad at first just because I thought it'd messed up my makeup, but it ended up being fine!! Plus, I don't think I could've stayed mad long anyways - wasn't going to let anything ruin our night! :) We headed downtown to 202 when everyone was done eating. SO much fun!! Great music & such a fun atmosphere. I'm definitely looking forward to more times going downtown now! I'd definitely consider my birthday night a success!! - Thanks to my best friends!! :)

Then, today I went down to my grandparent's for a birthday lunch. It was so good to see everyone - my family's definitely one-of-a-kind :) My grandma made a great meal as always. We stayed and visited for a few hours then headed back home for the evening.

But, I guess this weekend has to come to an end sometime. Tomorrow I get to sleep in and it's going to be so nice! Who knows what I'll get into on my first day off - don't have any big plans at all. I guess I'll get off of here and try to get some much needed sleep :) I hope EVERYONE had an amazing weekend!!

And again, I just want to say THANK YOUUUUUUU to Jenn, Jess, and Katie for an amazing 21st birthday!! Ya'll are the absolute best and I wouldn't have wanted to spend it with anyone else!! :)

Goodnight <3

Oh and P.S. - I just wanted to give a shout out to my new followers!!! Thanks for following me!! :)

21 Tomorrow?? Really???

Yea, I can't believe I'll seriously be 21 years old tomorrow. Obviously I'm so excited, but kinda scared at the same time. Is that weird? I mean I feel like 21 is the age everyone can't wait to get to - so ready to kiss the "kid" years goodbye and say "hello" to adulthood. I mean that's what I think. I feel like when you hit 21, you'll never be considered a kid anymore - everyone will forever think of you - and expect you to be - an adult. Was that ever scary to imagine for anyone else? Or just me? It may sound childish, but I feel like starting tomorrow, everything will seem different. And I don't know why I think that. It's so weird because, like I said, I'm so excited at the same time. But, I do think of it as another major milestone in my life. And I'm so ready to see what God has planned for me. Because up until now, I have been beyond blessed and I know His plan for me is just getting started :)

My friends and family have already made my birthday weekend amazing - one of my best friends at school got me a super cute wine class decorated with birthday artwork and my roommate got me Season 2 of Criminal Minds!! Then when I got home this afternoon I walked into a maze of 21 balloons my mom had picked up and some beautiful flowers! She's the BEST!! I'm so glad I get to spend time with her and my dad this week.

BUT anyways, besides my birthday, tomorrow officially starts my one-week Spring Break!! It is going to be SOOOOOOO nice to have 7 full days off to relax and spend time at home with my family (and kitty!!). Granted I'll have to work on a project for one of my classes - but it shouldn't be too bad. I'm going out tomorrow for my birthday (which is going to be AMAZING!!), visit family, and maybe hit up the ACC basketball tournament in Greensboro. It's going to be great. What is everyone else doing for their break if ya'll have one??

Well I know this was a short one given it's been about three weeks, but I'm going to get off here and maybe finish unpacking. HAPPY FRIDAY EVERYONE!!!

Goodnight <3

Oh and p.s. - How do you all like my new design?? Compliments of Jenn :) I think she did an awesome job!!

life's awesome don't ya think?!?

I think so!! :)

This week has been so hectic but it's been FULL of blessings at the same time. Like I posted last time (which was a week ago...oops!!), I had two big exams this week - biochem and physics. Studying for those consumed most of my time up until yesterday around noon. I felt pretty confident about my biochem, then to find out I didn't do as well as I thought. And then, my physics test...that was a whole different story. First of all, I've never had a test only consist of 12 questions, and second, I've never had a test that I've had NO idea how to do the majority of the problems. It was really aggrevating, but I didn't want to stress over it. I knew it would turn out how it was supposed to - whether good or bad.

Last night was a great way to start the stretch of a few less stressful days to come. I joined a community service fraternity (yea co-ed groups are called fraternites too) this past week and some of us got together last night to make blankets for Project Linus - the Saint Jude's organization. It's a great feeling knowing you're helping make people's lives better - especially sick kid's. I'm so looking forward to all the other service projects lined up. I can tell ESA is going to be a great fit for me!

Today though, probably topped my whole week off. Not just because it was Friday either! I found out that I made a B on my physics test! I can't explain how excited I was. I had motivation to get some work done too. Then I hit up the mall with Jenn and Jess. We saw this cute new shop - Paint n' Fun - that was full of all these ceramics you could paint. So we went in and put our creativity to the test :) They're really inexpensive too!! Jenn and I painted our initial and Jess got a cute little trinket box. I love doing spontaneous things. I had planned on just going to look around, but our little side stop made the trip so much more fun :) After we finished painting, they had to glaze them which took about twenty minutes, so we went browsing a few stores & stopped for some coffee. I had a blast!

Life is so good. GOD is so good. I've definitely seen him at work so much this week. I told myself at the beginning of the week that I wanted to set aside time and actually reflect on what God does for me EVERY SINGLE DAY. In the past, I've always just taken it for granted and have had this mindset that I'm in control - and then it finally clicked and I was like, "wait, what am I doing?!? why am I not taking time to thank Him for all of this?". Let me tell you, it's an amazing feeling when you step back and watch what GOd does - through you and others, and through every situation in life. It seriously is awesome!!

But, I'm going to get off here - heading out to get dessert with a friend. Hope everyone is having a great Friday night!! HAVE FUN!!! :)

been slacking..oops!!

WHOAAA I can't believe I haven't posted anything in almost two weeks!! I apologize - that is if you're that interested in my life happenings. I'm hoping I don't let this much time pass again - I don't want to slip back into my old ways and let six months pass before I post again. Determined to NEVER let that happen again. :) I gotta admit though, come Monday I'll be devoting my ENTIRE life to studying for two huge exams I have this week, so I'm not promising too much - but hopefully a little recap at least once during the week!!

Enough about me going on about that though. Moving on to tonight!!

Tonight was probably one of the best Friday nights I've had in awhile. And it wasn't even like I did THAT much, but it was so chill and such a relaxing, fun way to end a stressfull week. Our Relay for Life committee here put on a big fundraiser with a "Relay's Best Dance Crew." The big thing though was our fellow Hokies from Fighting Gravity were the special guests!! The entire 3,000-seat auditorium sold out for the show which made for an awesome amount of money going to a GREAT cause!! All the dance groups were great! I love watching people dance - it would be totally sick to be a part of a dance group - I'd love to do it. BUT since I'm not, watching is the next best thing. I don't care what people say though, but I guarantee almost everyone in Burruss tonight was there to see no one but Fighting Gravity. When they came on, the feeling was undescribable. The crowd went crazy. And just to know that was the stage they first performed on and a lot of people at the show including me saw them dance there the first time was pretty cool. I'm 100% sure I go to THE best school in the entire world. There's nothing like the TEch community and people here. Needless to say, that was the highlight of my whole week. :)

After the show was over, my roommate and one of our best friends went to the coffee shop on campus to listen to some live music put on my different students. I definitely know where I'm going to be spending my Friday nights now! There's something about a CoffeeHouse atmosphere that makes me feel like I'm in a big city just enjoying local music. It doesn't help that I'm a sucker for guys who can sing and play guitar either ;) It definitely makes me want to start searching for other live music going on around town on the weekends! The music was great!!

So tonight was a success! Great entertainment, great company - definitely makes for an enjoyable night. I hope everyone else's night has been just as fun!! If not, it's still not too late!! :) Go out and do something spontaneous - does the heart and sould some good. I've recently found that not second guessing myself and just going for something is totally worth it and so much better than thinking 'what if'. Hopefully that changed someone's perspective tonight!!

But I'm going to get going and maybe catch up on the Grey's Anatomy episode I missed last night. Have a fantastic night!!!

Oh and P.S. -- as I'm continuing to read the book, 'Cure for the Common Life,' I'm going to end with a quote or verse from the book. Hope you enjoy.

"God has never taken his eyes off you. Not for a millisecond. He's always near. He lives to hear your heartbeat. He loves to hear your prayers. He'd die for your sin before he'd let you die in your sin, so he did." - Cure for the Common Life
